Why does Olympia = Capitol Dome?

If these candidates are any indication, Olympians are ok with being associated with the government for the entire state:

Or maybe its just the prettiest building in town and so is the most notable. Either way, it was another candidate that reflected recently that he didn’t like using the capitol dome as a symbol of Olympia because it was lazy. Or maybe I said that and he agreed with me.

Either way, I wish people wouldn’t. There is much more to this city than a dome that we can’t take much credit for.

If I were looking for an iconic Olympia image, I’d be looking at the Farmer’s Market. (One thing I love about the ENA logo is the incorporation of our iconic water tower!)

I was wondering the same thing as I was perusing those sites the other day. Everybody has an image of the dome. Why not city hall? That’s where they want to work, right?

I thought about city hall first, but with it moving that’s kinda tricky. 🙂

Why an empty building front?? I can feel what you’re getting at, but I think it’s just weak marketing, cause for political campaigning you try the “most common denominator” you don’t go out and be bold and try new things…
Just for this alone I would like to try running, just to see if it’s possible to win a local council election by using twitter alone… just kidding… NOT.

My web guy came up with the design in 2005 – we’re using the same site in 2009. I never gave it a second thought because it’s just not that important. And I’m sure if you ask Joe what symbol of Olympia is on his site, he’d say ask his campaign manager because he only has 2 things to worry about…raising money and meeting the public. His manager worries about all the rest.

Well, if you need a new web guy to help ponder Olympia symbolism, let me know.

    Dear Emmett,
What have you got against Ms. Gates? You bad mouthed her campaign announcement and now you have cropped Janine’s campaign logo to eliminate the rest of Olympia included in her graphic.

I’m not a big fan of Ms. Gates’ campaign but I do think she should receive accurate coverage. Just sayin’

    Hey Laurian,

I don’t really have anything against her, per se. The actual graphic I embedded and what is up there now has changed, but I was thinking about going back and resizing them.

Also, Joan’s and Joe’s graphics also aren’t totally showing up, but I have nothing against them either. I’m thinking of voting for both of them, but I probably won’t vote for Janine.

Also also, when did I badmouth her announcement?

I’m going to reformat the pictures anyway, just to make sure you can see them.
